Joakim Noah released a new public service announcement on Friday asking Chicago residents to stand up against the violence that has been gripping the Windy City.

According to CBS Chicago, the PSA will air on television stations throughout Chicago. In the 60-second spot, Noah, Derrick Rose, Common and other Chicago residents repeats the theme of Chicago Stand Up, whether that means education, art for kids, second chances or anything else that will end the violence.

“Chicago, what do you stand for,” Noah asks in the 60-second commercial titled “Stand Up Chicago.” The PSA was released through his foundation.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Noah said he couldn’t stand by and watch the violence that has been plaguing his city.

“The summer months bring a lot of violence, and we felt it was urgent to get this PSA out now in order to bring some hope, change and support to the community,” he said. “I appreciate the support Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city of Chicago have provided in working to secure participation of the local news stations to run the PSA and raise awareness about this critical issue.”
