Britain imposed sanctions on Egorov, the Kyiv office of EPAP still exists

In mid-February, Great Britain introduced sanctions against persons who “helped hide the assets” of Abramovich and Usmanov. In particular, the founder of the top law firm in the swamps, “Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasyev and partners” was also sanctioned.

Nikolay Egorov was included in the sanctions list because of his work as the deputy head of Antipskyi (well, they have freaking names), the largest Russian private oil refinery, which is a party to the dispute, which is being considered by the London High Court.

According to the British government, Egorov is a member of a financial group directly linked to Putin.

Also, the Law Society Gazette published the article as a result of the sanctions on Egorov. They say that although Egorov is no longer practicing as a partner of EPAP, he still has a direct relationship with the firm. For example, he still has a corporate email, to which, by the way, the regulator sent the decision to impose sanctions.

Nikolay Egorov was then a professor at St. Petersburg University (and still is) and, together with his students, founded the company in the early nineties. Here is the history of the formation of the firm on Russian Forbes. In particular, it states that Egorov studied and worked with Putin at Leningrad University.

And what about the Kyiv office?

After the entire Kyiv EPAP team joined Asters, EPAP did not formally cease to exist, only a couple of people remained there at that time.

According to the EPAP website, they still have a Kyiv office, and it is managed by Ilona Zekeley. The office is located in Leonardo Business Center. Our colleague went there: there was no sign, no signs of life either. But we managed to find out that someone still was coming there and taking the correspondence.

Ilona did not respond to a request for comment.

It’s all about the question, why do international companies like Rödl Partners and GRATA International submit to the ranking in which the top positions are occupied by such suckers. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

UPD It turns out that the Ukrainian site has a few more people than just Ilona. For some reason, I only looked at the Russian site, sorry. And I just met a guy I know, he says that these people are not pro-russian, they even volunteer. But it is not clear why they are still in a toxic company.
