How the English lawyers refused to represent Prigozhin in the case vs Bellingcat

We wonder if Medvedchuk was the least bit uncomfortable being the subject of exchange after all his defamation lawsuits against anyone who called him a “Kremlin agent”? Prigozhin recently had a similar story. We did not write about it, for we don’t know why now we are correcting this mistake.

In December 2021, Prigozhin filed a lawsuit against Bellingcat founder Eliot Higgins in the High Court of London. This honest person was outraged that a hireling scribbler had tweeted that Prigozhin was the organizer of the private military company Wagner and it was Prigozhin who should be responsible for the company’s actions in South Africa and the Middle East.

This lawsuit initiated by Prigozhin is a classic example of the phenomenon called SLAPP, Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation).

So, the lawsuit was prepared by the firm Discreet Law (an English bar for 7 people). Still, in May 2022, the lawyers filed a motion to withdraw from the process because after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, working for the Russians was a nuclear blow to the reputation. Prigozhin tried to find other lawyers but to no avail. Bloomberg Law got the comment of a lawyer of a top English lawyers galley: “if the firm took up his case, there would be nothing left of our firm”. The judge closed the proceedings.

After the demarche of English lawyers and judges, Prigozhin wrote an angry letter to the court. I did not find this letter anywhere, but I found comments assertedly by a judge that it was a very emotional letter. In the letter, Prigozhin complains that he could not find any firm to take up the case and that English judges are not as independent as it turned out.

Only four months have passed, and Prigozhin has apparently gotten used to the terrible slander while calmly recruiting some scumbags in the pre-trial detention to join the “Wagner” PMC in the pre-trial detention center.
