Chupacabra requires the representative of the party to send a copy of the response to the statement of claim. Our times.

Legal engineer is a lawyer who knows how to code but, despite this, continues to work in the legal market. Found at legal hackathons and open data hackathons. In law firms, legal engineering specialists are few and far between. Despite the rarity, one eccentric filed the TM of the same name for registration and created something like a wild goose chase. PR is important, of course!

Legal analyst. They say that is the lawyer of the future will make decisions based on the analysis of big data. For example, instead of thoughtfully tinkering with regulations and analytics, a trial lawyer will mine data that is not obvious for the trial based on a large amount of data: the gender of the judge and his (her) marital status, the residence of the parties to the process, the frequency of mentioning the subject of the dispute in the press, and other things. CIO (a.k.a. chief innovation officer) is a person who is responsible for innovation in a law firm. It’s usually the dude who kicked back from the law, less often the dude who kicked back from IT. By the way, law firms still sometimes argue about who got it first.

Product owner — so far, this is an incomprehensible chupacabra. Everyone has heard, and everyone believes in it, but no one in the legal tech projects has seen it. Eyewitness accounts are here.

A new word has also appeared: a NewLaw firm. Who knows when and where it first appeared and what exactly it means. I heard it from Nazar Chernyavsky (SayenkoKharenko NewLaw firm) at the Promotion Forum, and a couple of days ago, an article appeared on Law.com about NewLaw as a new business model. The connotation of this word is cool; let’s see how it enters the market.
