For example, instead of thoughtfully tinkering with regulations and analytics, a trial lawyer will mine data that is not obvious for the trial based on a large amount of data: the gender of the judge and his (her) marital status, the residence of the parties to the process, the frequency of mentioning the subject of the dispute in the press, and other things. CIO (a.k.a. chief innovation officer) is a person who is responsible for innovation in a law firm. It’s usually the dude who kicked back from the law, less often the dude who kicked back from IT. A new word has also appeared: a NewLaw firm. Who knows when and where it first appeared and what exactly it means. I heard it from Nazar Chernyavsky (SayenkoKharenko NewLaw firm) at the Promotion Forum, and a couple of days ago, an article appeared on Law.com about NewLaw as a new business model. The connotation of this word is cool; let’s see how it enters the market.
