#420 — DEAD OR ALIVE
A Retelling of Greensleeves by a Fair-Dinkum Aussie Bloke
It’s the Deluded Custodians May challenge
This month, Ann James presents to us three intriguing musical challenges.
I decided to go for the musical parody challenge because they’re funny as heck. Maybe not mine, but the literal version of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” sure is. Feathered hair…
Irregardless, anyhoo and continuamos.
I decided to give the traditional broadside ballad “Greensleeves” a refreshing new lease on life. My version, “Groinsloives”, is sung from the perspective of an uncouth Australian male living in the 1980s. And yes, the 1980s are refreshing and new when you’re talking about a 16th-century song or a person born in the 1970s such as myself.
If you’re going to sing along, use the voice of Poida (Peter) as portrayed by Eric Bana back in the day.
