After 72 hours of intense tweeting, my eyes are bleeding.

Countless accounts share the same videos time and time again. If something goes viral, everybody will jump on it like vultures on a Hawaiian pizza and, unlike vultures, share the video with everybody else by reposting it to death.

Except that they don’t retweet the videos, they share them with “attribution” to the original poster. That’s because (as I understand) the algorithm treats posts differently from reposts.

Fun fact. The original poster is rarely (if ever) the video’s author. Some accounts have the mention “DM to credit or remove.” I guess they pretend not to know where the video’s coming from and wait for the author to reach out, which — most likely — never happens because individuals don’t have time to monitor social media for copyright infringement. Also, individuals might even be pleased to see their posts getting viral.

“15 Minutes of Fame” became “15 Million Views on Social Media.”

I wonder how…
