The Grail Quest

There is only one question you have to answer
on the long and winding trail over
countless harvest moons —
which cannot be met
with words or concepts
any idea that exists between
knower and known.
The ultimate riddle does not
fall between the usual signs
or make itself available to the thinker.
This trailhead leads somewhere
quite different. Some call it the
Grail Quest, the Hero’s Journey
but really it’s a reversal —
a silent retreat to a cave
you once called home.
