Wrestling with Imposter Syndrome

How creative am I “really” ?

“What do you do?”

I write down my thoughts

And how I see the world

And sometimes I even write

A poem or two.

“So, you’re a poet?”

No, I’m not

but I do love writing in verse,

as it’s a channel through

which I like to converse.

“Hmm, explain”

I’m a collector of words

which I put occasionally

in verse and at times

they might even rhyme.

“So, what exactly do you do?”

I’m a teller of stories

of others and mine

and give voice

to those who have none.

I write when I’m angry or sad

and sometimes simply for fun.

At times, words or lines

just emerge in my head

and when my thoughts unfurl

I know a poem is born.

You see, I do not possess
