Accessibility Design Speaker/Trainer

I have had the pleasure of speaking at the offices of large recognised companies such as Google and Apple, and also experienced the joy of talking at smaller events and seeing new designers get new insights. Helping people to understand that accessibility is usability is my key goal.

I also offer half-day interactive workshops for (UX) designers to get a better understanding of the challenges that we face, and how we can approach our designs differently to ensure we include others. With this new internal knowledge, it not only prevents costly redesigns but it increases a company’s reach to include the 15% of people with disabilities.

“Dean brought the issues to us in a very clear way, and after helped us to really improve our digital touchpoints. I’ve become much more aware on how to design with accessibility in mind and this is really thanks to Dean.” — Iris van Wijk, Visual Design Lead, KLM

In-person workshops

  • A half-day in-person workshop on Inclusive Design Thinking for (UX) designers.

Half-day in-person workshops introduce the topic of Accessibility, and introduce personas with visual, hearing, motor, and/or cognitive impairments. These personas are used to highlight barriers on well-known websites, and we ideate ways to better improve up on them.

The final part of the workshop is tailored to the client, and involves a 6-up sketching exercise followed by a round of design critique.

Online workshops

  • A half-day remote workshop on Inclusive Design Thinking for (UX) designers.

Online workshops take place using Zoom and Miro. Tasks are set throughout the talk, where participants solve these design problems in Miro.

The final part of the workshop is tailored to the client, and involves a 6-up sketching exercise followed by a round of design critique.

If you are an individual who is interested in a course, or a company that wants to amp up your teams internal knowledge, then sign up below.
