It has only been a few days since the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump was foiled. We should all be grateful for that.

As I wrote this week’s editorial for Spy Community Media’s Eastern Shore newspapers, I considered the impact of political violence on democracy and what a successful assassination attempt might have meant for the 2024 election.

Hopefully, with increased Secret Service protection for both presidential candidates, we have seen the last of this type of violence before election day.
