Cipollone Will Testify Before the January 6 Committee

More reason for Trump to worry

The House Select Committee has another star witness. On July 6, Maggie Haberman of the New York Times reported that former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone would testify under oath on Friday, July 8. While the testimony will not be in public, the evidence produced will likely be more damaging to Trump than Cassidy Hutchinson's. Cipollone was in many rooms that Hutchinson wasn't. Trump has reason to worry.

It has already been reported that Cipollone advised the ex-president not to go to Capitol Hill on January 6. He reportedly told Ms. Hutchinson, 'We're going to get charged with every crime imaginable if we make that movement happen." Cipollone also expressed concerns about "potentially obstructing justice or defrauding the electoral count."

Cipollone will be asked to confirm both statements. More importantly, he is likely to be in possession of additional direct evidence of Trump's involvement in the planning of the insurrection and in the infamous John Eastman memo written to support Vice President Pence rejecting slates of electors for states won by Joe Biden.

Trump supporters are likely to condemn Cipollone for testifying before the Committee. They will suggest that any…
