Dead Dog Kills Kristi Noem’s Vice-Presidential Bid

If you are reading this, you likely know the story. In her new book, “No Going Back,” South Dakota Governor Noem proudly describes how she took a 14-month-old wirehair pointer to a quarry and shot it. Ms. Noem does not relate the story with any remorse; instead, she considers it an example of her ability to make tough decisions and execute them. In the case of the dog, Cricket, the dog was executed.

Kristi Noem has pandered to Donald Trump for some time. She fancies herself “a looker” and assumed that Donald Trump might be interested in having her on the 2024 ticket. She further enhanced her dream of the vice presidency by demonstrating remarkable loyalty to Trump.

Noem miscalculated. Even Trump Republicans hesitate to shoot their dogs for misbehaving. Many would also question how shooting Cricket and other animals makes Noem a good choice for high office.

Noem now laments to being “attacked” in the press. She is attempting to turn the attacks to her benefit. Just as the daily attacks on Trump for crimes, threats of retaliation against his enemies, and promises to address border security by mass deportations have earned the ex-president…
