A few days doesn’t a successful presidential campaign make, so it is far too early to predict that Kamala Harris will beat Trump in November. But the first few days of her campaign are encouraging. She is off to a good start. Energy has returned to the Democratic party. The gloom is gone.

I focused my column this week in the Spy Community Media’s newspapers on what President Biden’s withdrawal from the race and Harris’ success in securing support for the nomination meant.

Since the article was published on July 24th, many things have happened. Republican VP nominee J.D. Vance is off to a horrendous start. Cat ladies are after him. I predict a tough road ahead for Trump’s hillbilly.
