Let's Talk About Liz Cheney
Despite her conservative record, Democrats are funding her campaign
Have American politics descended to the point where Democrats are donating to Liz Cheney's now-longshot campaign to retain her seat in the House of Representatives? That appears that is the case. Democrats are contributing heavily to Cheney despite her record as a solid conservative.
The contributions are intended by many donors to "reward" her for condemning the Trump insurrection and her role in attempting to hold him accountable. The rewards are proving to be significant. Cheney did not decide to condemn Trump as a fund-raising ploy, but the money keeps coming in.
I admire Liz Cheney, but that is a recent development. Before Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 election results, I wasn't interested in her. I knew of her because of her famous (infamous) father but thought of her as another right-wing Republican. Her willingness to jeopardize her political career to do what is right got my attention.
