Promises, Promises! Why Does Anyone Believe What a Politician Promises?

As historians address the question of how Donald Trump won the 2024 election despite felony convictions, massive civil judgments involving allegations of rape, and numerous speeches described as incoherent and delusional, they won’t forget Trump’s propensity to overpromise. I’m talking about making promises that were not kept for one reason or another.

Voters want candidates who promise a bright future. Trump is a master at this art. He could have written a book titled “The Art of the Promise.”
