Who’s Drafting the Trump Executive Orders?
A new role for RFK, Jr. as Trump defunds NPR and Public Television.
Most people would be embarrassed to have their name associated with Presidential Executive Orders banning paper straws, ordering more water pressure in shower heads, or appointing themselves to head the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Donald Trump is different from most people and, to be fair, doesn’t write (and, I suspect, read) many executive orders that he signs with his Sharpie.
On May 1, President Trump signed an Executive Order to end federal funding for National Public Radio and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Trump has found that PBS and NPR do not present “a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens.”
I have seen no evidence that Donald Trump watches public television. Similarly, I don’t think he was listening to NPR in the presidential limousine known as “The Beast” as he was driven around the track before the start of a stock car race earlier this year. So, how would Trump know whether PBS or NPR presents an accurate or unbiased portrayal of current events?
