Dear A,

How are you?

I’m asking.

How is your heart?

Truly.

What’s in your head?

’cause I don’t know.

What’s in your hands?

Are you still tired?

Do you believe in much these days?

How about laughter?

Did you laugh today?

or yesterday?

or the day before that?

I wonder.

Did you dream last night?

or the night before?

or the night before that?

Maybe you’ve fallen over?

Are you bent?

Are you buckling?

Do your feet kiss the ground?

Are you kissing?

Much?

I think…

What are you telling the moon?

Do you remember?

Are you remembering?

or forgetting?

How about following?

Who are you following these days?

Oh,

And what can you hear?

What is shaking you? Rocking you? Grabbing you? Squishing your face in her hands and saying you, I see you?

Who is seeing you?

…thinking of you

xxT

p.s. positive self-talk was totally made up by lonely people.
