How Theresa Cain Chose Murder and Suicide Over Homelessness

Ohio Township is a beautiful place that’s listed as one of the original townships and is found in Clermont County, Ohio. It’s surrounded by hills with gentle slopes, creeks, and boasts numerous parks. It’s a place any of us might be excited to call home.
Theresa Cain moved from Connecticut, choosing this place to raise her family alongside her husband, Steven Cain. She was also caring for her father, William Felton, who was 74 and living with the family. According to the records of auditors, Theresa and Steven Cain purchased their two-story, three-bedroom home in 1990 for $212,000. Located on 3-acres of property, it was as pretty a piece of the American Dream as you could hope to raise a family on.
But as with so many families in the United States, the American Dream was proving impossible for Theresa.
After what authorities have described as a string of financial difficulties, in May of 2022, Freedom Mortgage Corporation of Indiana foreclosed on the family’s home.
