Ask Your Republican Senator to Preserve and Improve the Affordable Care Act

In the second paragraph, I cite a number for how many people have gained access to health care in the my state because of the ACA’s Medicaid expansion provisions. You can find information for your state here, at the Kaiser Family Foundation website.

Dear Senator ____________,

I am writing again to ask you to please preserve and improve the Affordable Care Act rather than supporting repeal. On Monday, January 9, five Republican senators — Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Bob Corker, Lisa Murkowski, and Rob Portman — called for a slower, more deliberate approach to changing our health care system than defunding the ACA through reconciliation. And two Republican governors — Rick Snyder and John Kasich — have called for at least preserving the law’s Medicaid expansion provisions.

The fact is that the Affordable Care Act has helped hundreds of thousands of people in Pennsylvania. Medicaid expansion alone has extended access to care to about 600,000 PA residents, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. And it’s in all our best interests to improve on those gains rather than throwing them away.
