At Compassion in Dying we’re looking for a new Digital Manager to head up our digital services and influencing. We need someone who is committed to using digital to help people make informed choices about their healthcare, and to influence and prompt culture change in end-of-life care.

You’ll be in charge of:

  • product managing the website and our online services,
  • amplifying the voices of the people we support through social media and beyond,
  • and mapping how our users interact with us to understand and iterate our services.

A seemingly standard Digital role right? Wrong, because you’ll also be collaborating with me (the Information Strategy and Development Manager) to embed our new process of researching, producing and testing digital content. This means you will have the opportunity to influence what content we develop, how we use it, and where.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a background in digital, but also a keen interest in content design and user research. All the better if you’ve actually done some before, but not essential.

Disclaimer — to be clear from the outset, we’re not combining two roles into one and trying to make your life impossible. In fact, we’ve actually reduced the breadth of the remit of this role to make it more focused. Because we’ve learnt that our content can’t be created by writers, and simply handed off to digital to publish — it just doesn’t work for our users, or us! The idea of this role is to work in collaboration with our information and research teams, utilising their skills, and working together in a big melting pot of talent to create brilliant digital content.

As well as a background in digital, you’ll be someone who enjoys big picture thinking and developing content to achieve our strategic aims while meeting our users’ needs. You will enjoy and champion the benefits of content design, and how we can use better service design to makes peoples’ lives easier. You will also most likely hate PDFs.

Why work for us?

Compassion in Dying is a fun and engaging organisation to work for. The people are brilliant and enthusiastic about their own work, but also our collective purpose — to change the way people die for the better.

There are great staff benefits, and being based in Oxford Street is pretty handy. But most important of all (to me anyway) is the work we do makes a difference to peoples’ lives. We listen to people. We make change happen, and that’s pretty great.

So, if you’re looking for something that combines the best of digital and content development, this role is for you. You can apply on our website, or feel free to get in touch with Dave for a per-chat if you have questions about the role: david.pearce@compassionindying.org.uk
