The maker movement emerged in the late 19th century by people who created products for sale through the use of already existing broken items. The goal was to create products unique to those already available and being made in large factories mass produced. The maker movement allowed for people to stand out and actually have a bit of personality in their work as each piece would be different and special unlike the carbon copies that are produced in factories.

The whole idea behind the maker movement was that poeple could express themselves and up cycle products that would in the end create an interely new thing. This made way for completely new artworks never seen before. So many people are bored and tired of the same old commercial work and this gave the chance to start something new and actually be passionate about their work.
