Free World Dialup — A prelude to DBF.

I have done this before.

As the former Founder of Free World Dialup (FWD), I am bullish and super excited to have the opportunity to help deploy the next evolution in the IP Communications space, blockchain communications.

A communication network supporting open protocols and a platform offering third-party service providers the opportunity to connect and deploy services to our connected community.

Imagine being able to connect with peers and initiate communication with unparalleled security with a network of innovation. No spam. No robo calling allowed.

Free World Dialup was the largest open source-based IP communication network. During the life of FWD, we had more than a million users.

We benefited from supporting the open source community and by using open protocols and empowering our users to connect to the network using any endpoint which supported our open protocols.

Our existence helped grow the overall VoIP market and helped fuel innovation in communication services, becoming the catalyst which lead to the launch and commercial success of Vonage, and its sister company Vivox.

In 2020, I am grateful for the opportunity to take my collective learning from FWD, and more, and apply it to blockchain communication with Debrief.

The value of the Debrief (DBF) token will benefit from the network effect associated with the geometric growth of the number of endpoints connected to the Debrief Middleware and network since one or more tokens will be needed in order to initiate each communication session.

We envision third-party developers to launch their own services on Debrief and payment for these services will be paid in the DBF token. As third-party developers deploy services, they will attract users. As the number of users grow, so will demand for the token.

Developers will benefit from deploying using Debrief as they will earn either tokens from each communication session, they are responsible for enabling or be able to have a bulk membership/usage fee.

What is Middleware?

Instead of focusing on one single app, Middleware is like having a small piece of almost any app!

Simply put, Middleware is software that provides common services and capabilities to applications outside of what’s offered by the operating system.

Data management, application services, messaging, authentication, and API management are all commonly handled by Middleware.

Middleware helps developers build applications more efficiently. It acts like the connective tissue between applications, data, and users.

For organizations with multi-cloud and containerized environments, Middleware can make it cost-effective to develop and run applications at scale. This means that new and innovative business models can be supported such as micro-charging for every transaction or monthly subscriptions to pre-pay large amounts of licensing or usage.

MarketsandMarkets expects the global Application Programming Interface (API) management market size to grow from USD 1.2 billion in 2018 to USD 5.1 billion by 2023, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 32.9%.

Middleware is key for success to integrate blockchain with the rest of an enterprises architecture

So, what is blockchain middleware?

Blockchain middleware typically refers to software functions designed to bring together various interrelated instances and elements of blockchain data. It can also encompass software designed to combine different blockchain implementations within a unified interface for ease of use and (often) as a route to achieving scalability.

Blockchain middleware can also be used to apply blockchain to use cases in specific industries that are not well served by existing blockchain technologies.

Why this is so powerful to enable DBF (Debrief token) to achieve massive scale?

The Debrief ecosystem will enable a one-click access to a rich library of prebuilt, out-of-the-box connectors and templates and eventual access to the entire network.

This powerful middleware protocol will enable massive adoption and actual usage of the DBF token. Any developer can add our powerful APIs with just a few keystrokes and the DBF token. Imagine the thousands of centralized apps that would like to add better connectivity and security, but do not have the technical or financial wherewithal to make it a reality. With Debrief, we are bringing the next frontier of Middleware and infinite possibilities.
