You’ve been told a lie

That touches on a truth

About how you were hurt

Or are missing out on something (something)

Promised in your youth.

Baby you’ve been told a lie.

And when you’re falling

There is no sense of time.

And when you’re burning,

Holding back water is a crime.

You’ve been told a lie,

And they’ve spun you ‘round real good.

They pointed you at something

That you never understood.

Baby you’ve been told a lie.

And when you’re falling

There is no sense of time.

And when you’re burning,

Holding back water is a crime.

You’ve been told a lie

And it hurts to watch you fall

Far from where you were,

Or were never really, you were just pretending

To be for liberty and truth.

Baby you’ve been told a lie.

Maybe we’ve been told a lie.

And when you’re falling

There is no sense of time.

And when you’re burning,

Holding back water is a crime.

Composed in 2017.

Slow to judge, quick to suppose: truth and alternatives I’m keen to expose. Open by default. How can I help? https://bit.ly/32Fmz2l
