Decathlon Coach
With +50% more users than in 2019, we can say that 2020 was a good year for the Decathlon Coach application. The application has indeed something to seduce, with sessions and coached programs in different sports, which moreover is 100% free. No special equipment is required to practice and several levels of difficulty in each sport are offered 💪
An application accessible to everyone…
- The Decathlon Coach application is accessible to everyone. It offers personalized sessions, training plans over several weeks and a tracking section that allows, among other things, to record your GPS track. It is also possible to pair a cardio sensor which allows you to work according to your heart rate. A Tips section is also available for documentation and to have all the keys in hand to practice in the best conditions.
- The connection to the application is made via the Decathlon Login Service (SSO). It is also connected to other internal services, in particular to store activities and load training content and advice.
- The applications are developed natively: iOS uses the Swift language and Android uses the Java and more widely Kotlin languages. This year the application has also been deployed on the App Gallery and is therefore available on the new Huawei phones.
- Both applications (iOS and Android) are based on standard architectures such as MVVM and Clean architecture.
- Access to our services is via SDKs developed by and for the team but also for sharing with other teams/products at Decathlon.
- Crash monitoring, configuration and analytics are done among others through the Firebase platform.
- The main services are Decathlon Login, STD (Sports Tracking Data) and DCM (Decathlon Coach Manager). STD allows, among other things, to store the activities done as well as the programs in progress. DCM allows access to coaching sessions and programs.

Behind every tech decathlon product is a team that works together in an agile environment to enable sport for everyone. At Decathlon Coach, we have :
- The leader, PO and UI/UX designer decide together, based on different types of information, the future improvements and functionalities, especially based on user feedback.
- The QA, responsible for the functional quality and interacts with the users to help them if they encounter difficulties.
- The iOS and Android Leads are responsible for the technical quality and are coordinators between the product part and the developers. The team is organized according to the Agile method with 3 weeks sprints.
