Celebrating the Holidays with the DECENT Shanghai Team

If you have read our recent Q&A with our China GM, Xiaomin Wang, you will already know that Meetups are a big reason for DECENT’s existence today. Which makes it seem fitting that we ended our 2018 calendar year in Shanghai with a MeetUp event to discuss decentralized applications.

The event was hosted at the DECENT Shanghai Chinese office last week. The evening started at 6:30 pm with a quick catch-up and drinks with old and new friends. Followed by an introduction to DECENT and DCore by Xiaomin. Afterward, our Social Media Manager, Denys Yin, hosted and moderated a panel discussion about decentralized applications (dApp). Our guest panelists included Adam Place from Nusic, Gabriel Miron from ClearingPoint, Mobin Arablou from Cresto and our very own Deja Du representing an upcoming dApp on DCore.

The discussion kicked off with each panelist and their definition of decentralized applications today. Followed by why each panelist chose to use dApps instead of other technological solutions. Also, they covered the pros and cons of using dApps, as well as, what are some improvements that should be implemented for future dApps. Finally, the panel discussion ended with a heated Q&A session with our diverse audience.

To thank our community for their support throughout 2018, we hosted a holiday giveaway after the panel discussion. The lucky winners picked their prize of choice from three options: a DECENT T-shirt, a DECENT mug or a DECENT portable charger. We understand that this giveaway was solely for our Shanghai community and a lot of supporters weren’t able to attend. Don’t worry, we have an online giveaway in the works and will be released very soon!
