As the old saying goes, “all good things must come to an end.” Unfortunately, we will be closing down our DECENT Go (DGo) portal. DGo launched back in the summer of 2017 and was originally created as a place for content creators to publish and monetize their works on a decentralized peer-to-peer platform.

As our business grew over the last year, we found that DCore is extremely versatile and can be beneficial for numerous industries. In an effort to focus primarily on adoption, we disabled the content distribution feature of DGo and kept it as our primary DCT web wallet. However, now that we have launched an upgraded web wallet, we are ready to move on from DGo, permanently.

Therefore, it is officially time to start winding down the DGo portal and this process will be divided into two phases:

Phase 1–17:00 GMT, December 21, 2018: Disabling the ability to create new DGo accounts. We will redirect anyone visiting the DGo website to our new web wallet portal, where they can create an account or access their existing accounts. All DGo accounts, including current balance and transaction history, are accessible on our new DECENT web wallet with the same login credentials from DGo, making for a seamless transition.

Phase 2–17:00 GMT, January 29, 2019: Removing the ability to sign in to DGo accounts. As stated above, this will not prevent the access to your previous DGo account balance because all the login credentials will have been transferred over to our new DECENT web wallet. In this phase, access to DGo is essentially disabled and all visitors will be redirected to our new DECENT web wallet.

Our new web wallet has many advantages over the DGo portal. Namely, it is more secure, user-friendly, modern and reliable, with an ability to not only store your DCT, but also other DCore User Issued Assets (UIAs) such as ALX. If you haven’t had a chance to create your DECENT wallet yet, you can do so here.

For previous DGo users, there are three ways to access your account on our new web wallet, using the same credentials and account information from your DGo account. You can either use your brain key, your account’s private key, or your JSON wallet file. If you haven’t saved this information in a safe place, we highly encourage you to login to DGo and obtain the above-mentioned criteria BEFORE we shut down DGo!

To serve as a refresher, you can access your private key or your brain key by logging into your DGo account and accessing ‘Security’ in the upper right-hand menu. Once there, you can click ‘Show’ to reveal your credentials. Here, you can also find a green button that says “Export Wallet File” which will allow you to download your JSON wallet file. Please make sure to keep these keys in a secure place, because they are not replaceable if lost. The following screenshot should serve as an example of where you can access your private and brain keys.

If you have any questions, please check out our DGo FAQ or contact us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to help resolve any issues.

We have planned more wallet-related projects in the works, and soon you may find that the official DECENT web wallet is not the only place to store and transact your DCT or UIAs on DCore! Stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to follow us on social media and join our live discussion in our Telegram channel.
