The deep web is a collection of websites that operate by hidden IP address’. These websites are run through browsers built to block both the location of the people running the site but also its users. The browser known specifically to block a person’s location and IP is Tor. This browser essentially hides a person’s location. The deep web is a place that functions on both positive and negative content. Often thriving of consumerism. The deep web is not at all a hard to access place. It is just websites that aren’t available while using search engines. The view that people have of the deep web many focuses around the word illegal. However, the case is that the deep web consists of websites that aren’t apparent when using search engines in the clear web.

How to access it

To access the deep web one will need a browser (Tor) that allows you to view other sites that are encrypted by Tor. These sites have such secure encryptions so that someone using a browser such as Google Chrome wouldn’t be able to find it on the Google search engine. Accessing these sites doesn’t appear to be hard as there are more deep web sites than those in the clear web. Simply using the browser in Tor will show you sites that you wouldn’t find in a Google Search.

The Uses:

The deep web actually has many good uses along with the bad. While there is a side that focuses mainly on illegal activities such as drugs, narcotics, money scams and illegal adult activities, there is a side that can be used for good. There are situations where it can be beneficial for the government agencies to transfer documents to help with resolving a crime or to communicate with agencies in other countries. This also allows internet users in places like China, who have limited access to certain content to view the things that have been removed from. This is beneficial because it allows everyone the same access to all content. The deep web also provides an opportunity for advocacy. If there is something taking place morally wrong/ in need of advocacy, the deep web can provide a platform for the sharing of information to help create a change. Another positive use of the deep web would be to aid with Journalism. The dark web is also used to help avoid censorship as there are many countries that are protective against media from other locations. This is another way that aids with getting the word across.

Safety Warnings:

Although, with the deep web it is easy to see what the positive uses are but also the negative uses are. It is also known that there are some hazards that one may run into. A person may be subjected to downloading viruses which not only help to damage your anonymity but to also create breaches on your device.

While the deep web isn’t just drugs and fraud, it has it’s positive uses still remember responsibility and safety.
