Today I turn 10,000 days old
If you don’t want to do the math, 10,000 days is 27 years, 4 months, and 16 days.
I’m a numbers guy, and today, for obvious reasons, is a significant one for me.
I recently read a post on Medium written by a guy with stage 4 colon cancer. He’s only 35. In his piece he explains how he messed up, how he treated the first 35 years of his life building a platform to then build his “thing” for the second half.
Chances are, he admits, there won’t be a second half.
I’ve lived my life the same way. Every step I take is strategically aimed at building a platform to capitalize on later in life.
But I don’t even know if I’ll get another 10,000 days, or 100, or 1.
There’s no way of knowing. That is why I live every day as if it’s an adventure.
10,000 days is a lot of days. It’s a milestone for sure. But even as a numbers guy, I’m only focused on a single number:
1
As is in the 1 day I have in front of me. Every day when I wake up I remind myself how old I am in days. (Here’s a calculator if you want to find your number.)
I start there, and make that day the adventure it needs to be.
