Day 4 on Yogic Lifestyle Experiment: Death is on my mind
These days: I have been thinking of death in different perspective most of the time. It seems: somehow the God of Death and Catastrophe want to me to think about it.
So I am into it.
I have been wandering…
Why did Tim Ferris say about death so much?
Why was Steve Job telling about living today as if it is your last day?
Why many stoics consider death so important in their daily practices for leading a thriving life?
Why there is so much emphasis on the importance of today?
Why are people saying there is no tomorrow?
And this girl happens to say the same kind of thing. On our first meet.
Khyati: “What if tomorrow we die? You have to live in today!!!”
And,
This reminds me of one of the legendary poet, Kabira, from India.
काल करे सो आज कर, आज करे सो अब ।
पल में प्रलय होएगी,बहुरि करेगा कब ॥Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So Ub.
Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kub.
English Translation:
“Do tomorrow’s work today, today’s work now.
Catastrophe to come at any moment, When will the work be done?”
This is perhaps the best poetry of all the time as far as the sense of acting in a very current moment is the concern. This powerful word is best as a strong daily reminder. We can record and listen and shout and can reflect upon it.
This poetry is for doers to repeat in their mind again and again. It can be an elevated installation in mind as part of inner chatter.
We can try and test it out.
I will be discussing these things in detail in one of my future posts. Specifically, the sayings of Tim Ferris, steve jobs, Kabira, and stoics.
The point that I want to make out here is:
Living in Now is of great importance. Hardcore Mindfulness is another way of saying towards the works to be done.
And
Yoga is a technical way to align our mind and body and helps us to channel things that are in mind to our body. So we take quick actions. It is easy to understand this.
If the mind is well connected with the body, tasks that are there in mind in the form of a to-do list or some planning will quickly and seamlessly channel to our body in the way of actions.
That is one of the key reason I am so fascinated by the yogic lifestyle and practices. It does not allow us to postpone things. It is the ultimate cure of postponing or procrastination diseases. This is a technical mind-body oriented technical description.
But still, many other reasons are possible for the cause of inaction. I am open minded to see the possibilities. Getting into the practice is more important.
Practice makes the philosophy real. Otherwise, it is of no use. Philosophies are not things to think; it is to test ideas out in the field.
I am in the hope that it will work. And I can feel a few tiny improvements in 3 days of practice. I apparently have to go a long way. It is not even the beginning. I would say.
“We never know the end of any beginning.”
The above quote is derived from one of my favorite TV series Vikings. Season 5 trailer in the context of Ragnar Lothbrok death consequences.
The actual is “You have only seen the beginning of the end.”
It is awesome. And it is true in our context as well. We do not know the end of any beginning.
So expectations are out of the scene. It’s better to see the experiences as they are.
And let’s be on the field.
And This is Day 4.
Day 4 starts again at the same time 3:30 PM.
The same simple starts from Gayatri Mantra. And Micro Exercises. And Warm-ups.
As usual, I had been in a roller coaster ride of various yoga asanas. It’s a good sign that my posture is getting better. I am going through a better and less twisted version of Yoga.
As mention in my earlier post Pranayama and Bandha is an essential aspect of the overall system of Yoga. Asana is only one thing. And weight loss and curing diseases are only the positive side effects.
There is much more to it. I have not experienced all these. I am telling only the thing what other experts have told me. However, I am into it. And I will try as much as I can and will try to share things with you guys. Removing the misconceptions of Yoga among moderns is essential.
Chakra and Kundalini are part of the Yoga system:
You might have heard of Chakra or Kundalini presence in our body. They are the requisite knowledge of the yogic systems and philosophies. And all the asana are designed to work on a specific chakra. But irony at its best, people have now the notion of stretching when yoga name arrive in the mind.
It is also about strengthening particular chakra or energy. And about balancing the kundalini. Or we can say it is about balancing the overall energy systems in our body. You must have heard about many energy healers, and they are successfully doing their practices to heal different kinds of issues.
The point is that: all these things are related to yoga systems.
It is a very vast field. It looks to me now. Sounds like a long way to go to understand and to experience things around. But it is a good system in general. It has a lot of intangible and tangible benefits to offer in our normal life. Like weight loss, mindfulness, improved focus, healing thousands of diseases, and solving hundreds of physiological issues.
Extract from the conversation:
One significant knowledge that she shared with me today can be of great importance to millions of students and other people. This is about pranayama and breath. Many of us already know that our one nose works at a time for breathing. If your left nose is working, then your right brain is more active. And if you right nose is working, then your left brain is working.
Meaning that: Do the creative task when your left brain is working, and Do the logical tasks when your right nose is working. And you will be at your best. And at will, you can also change the operative nose. Just close the other nose and try multiple breathing from the one you want.
Key Takeaway:
- Do creative works when your left nose is working and do logical works when your right nose is working. And reflect up on this. (Try it as an experiment )
- Yoga is much more than simple series of asanas. It is also about the chakra and kundalini. It is about strengthening and balancing our energy systems. ( To remember )
