We use computers a lot throughout the day and sometimes having to find that particular setting/file can be tiresome. That is why we have shortcuts! Shortcuts enable you to do stuff super fast and they’re also cool. With a just of the shortcuts at your fingertips, you cn geek like a boss.

Shortcut list

Here are a bunch of shortcuts that I use regularly;

  • Windows + X/ Mouse Rightclick on Windows icon:
  • This shortcut opens a small menu at the bottom left side just above the taskbar. Some of the things you can find in that menu include the control panel, cmd, task manager, device manager etc.
  • Windows + 1, 2, 3, …..
  • Pressing Windows plus any number opens the program in the taskbar which is in that particular index.
  • Windows + E
  • Opens file manager
  • Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V
  • The former copies stuff while the latter is used to paste
  • Windows + R
  • opens the Run dialogue box
  • Shift + Direction arrows
  • used to highlight stuff. The up and down arrows are used when highlighting multiple rows.
  • Alt + F4
  • closes current window/program.
  • Alt + TAB
  • shifts between open windows
  • Windows + TAB
  • opens task view.
  • Shift + Delete
  • used to delete files permanently without taking them to the recycle bin.
  • Ctrl + Z
  • used to undo action especially in text documents.
  • Ctrl + A
  • used to select all the contents of a file/folder
  • Windows + prtsc
  • used to take a screenshot
  • Windows + l
  • used to lock the computer
  • Windows + s

The above shortcuts are just a small portion of the many available Windows shortcuts. I just the most commonly used. hope it helps.
