Apple launched its latest computing products at a press conference in New York this week. The three products — iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini are the latest updates to their entry-level computing platform. Apple has updated both the design and internals to deliver three exceptional products. To read about the previous launch event for the three new iPhones, you can visit our blog.

iPad Pro

The new iPad Pro gets rid of the home button and features an all screen design with next-generation processors that will power the device. This device comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch Liquid Retina Display models that feature an edge-to-edge screen with true tone colours, making it more advanced than the previous versions. The tablets are just 5.9 mm thin, making it the thinnest iPad ever, which gives you the facility of carrying it around easily.

The new iPad is embedded with the latest A12X Bionic chips, the smartest and most powerful ones in a tablet. This has been designed by Apple specifically for their latest iPad Pro. It also features Apple’s next generation Neural Engine for fast machine learning from photography to Augmented Reality (AR), completing up to 5 trillion operations per second, making it a highly efficient machine learning engine.

It also brings over FaceID from the iPhone X which enables you to unlock your device with just a glance. This works with any orientation. It is the most secure facial authentication system, enabled in any device. It also stars TrueDepth camera, making the device ready for Anemoji and Memoji.

The new magnetic Pencil and Keyboard Folio add to the productivity of this device (both are sold separately). The magnetic pencil can be attached to the iPad pro for pairing and wireless charging. The Smart Keyboard Folio is a thin keyboard which can be attached to the iPad and doesn’t require any charging. It will also protect the iPad from both the front and the back.

The iPad Pro is targeted at professionals looking to get the best of both portability as well as performance. Apple really is looking at this device to be the future of computing, swapping out the lightning port for a USB C one. This will allow app developers to add functionality by allowing it to connect to myriad accessories.

MacBook Air

Apple gave MacBook Air a long overdue performance and design overhaul. It features a 13.3-inch Retina Display, with over 4 million pixels, making images more life-like. The company has also added TouchID to the keyboard that will secure the laptop from unauthorized access. With the latest T2 Security chip, the new MacBook Air offers a more secure boot process and secure storage than before.

It comes with a better keyboard and industry best trackpad that can sense pressure. It is 20% larger than the previous model and is more touch-sensitive. There are advancements in the speakers and sound quality as well, the speakers are 25% louder with extra-base for a happy user experience. It features an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor, Intel UHD graphics and up to 16GB RAM and comes with up to 1.5TB SSD for faster performance.

It is considered ‘the greenest mac ever’ as it uses Apple-Designed aluminium alloy which is made from 100% recycled aluminium. This reduces the carbon footprint of the laptop by 50%.

When Apple first released the MacBook Air, it became the industry gold standard. However, a lack of upgrades in recent years meant the design and specs were a bit outdated. With this refresh, the MacBook Air is once again a great buy for those looking for an ultra thin laptop with great battery life and performance.

Mac Mini

The all-new Mac Mini is five times faster and more powerful than the previous generation. It is now equipped with quad or 6 core 8th-generation Intel Core processors with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.6GHz and Intel UHD graphics. It can now easily do the tasks like code compilations, video transcoding and live musical performances.

It comes with up to 64GB of 266MHz memory and 2TB SSDs that make it faster than before. It also features Apple’s T2 security chip to make it one of the industry’s most secure devices. It is the same chip that is embedded in the latest version of MacBook Air.

Mac Mini offers a 10GB ethernet for the first time and four Thunderbolt 3 ports. It also has a USB-A port and HDMI 2.0, so it provides proper accessibility. It also uses Apple-Designed aluminium alloy that is made from100% recycled aluminium that makes it an environment-friendly device.

It is true that Apple is in a league of its own by offering unprecedented performance with impeccable product design. This is what makes the brand more desirable than others. Above all, it offers benchmark products that are considered best in class due to superior performance and versatility. The only drawback is the products are too expensive for an average Indian household. However, if you are a creative professional, these are great devices to make your workflow smoother and better.
