WWDC of Worldwide Developers Conference is where Apple showcases all their new software developments in iOS, macOS, and developer toolkits for products like the iPhone and the Mac. This year’s WWDC according to an Apple fan was fantabulous, but if you ask me it was pretty uneventful, except for the announcement of cheese grater style Mac Pro.

Well, there were some exciting announcements like the new iPadOS and the Sign in with Apple feature and the latest OS updates. While the focus is on software, the company has also been known to announce hardware at these events. Here’s all the latest news from Apple’s second biggest event of the year.

  1. Mac Pro + Screen + Stand: Starting with the showstopper of the event, the cheese grater shaped Mac Pro was nothing short of extraordinary. A long due update to the trash can Mac Pro which came out in 2013. Also, if you are planning to buy the gorgeous nano-edge 6K display screen which costs $4999 in the U.S., does not come with a stand included. Yes, you need to buy the stand to mount your 5000 dollar display on for an extra $999 #JustAppleThings. Did I mention that you can also use this beautiful screen in portrait mode? Yes, you can. It’s amazing.

2. iOS13: This brings bucket loads of updates with it. Some not so new, but much awaited by unfortunate Apple users. Things like dark mode, swipe text, and street view feature in Maps is something Google has been offering for a long time, now.

3. Sign in with Apple: Apple is that one brand which says that they care about their users’ privacy and then act on it. This feature is proof of that. Sign in with Apple will be available on most of the apps & websites where you see other such options like sign in with Google or Facebook. This ensures the security of their user’s privacy and what all access are they allowing to the app or website to have.

4. iPadOS: It’s finally happening. iPads are now closer than ever to being a full-fledged laptop. Everything that was holding back the iPad’s more than capable hardware to living up to its capabilities is now sorted with the all-new iPadOS.

5. MacOs Catalina: The latest iteration of MacOS brings support for iPad apps on a Mac. We were hearing a lot about iPad apps working on a Mac as Apple was working on it under the codename Marzipan. One of the notable additions with the latest Mac update is of Sidecar, this feature lets you cast your Mac screen to an iPad for people who ever felt they would be better off using their iPad screens for certain things like doodling with the pencil support and a smaller, more convenient screen. Voice Control on Catalina is much more improved & easy to use than we have ever seen on any MacOS before.

There were more updates announced at WWDC19 including the SwiftUI which came as a blessing for app developers as it made developing the app a lot easier by using much less code.

Updates to Apple Music, which will now show live synced lyrics for any song you choose to play. Mostly.

Memoji is an update to Animoji. Now you can also put makeup on your animated self. These Memojis will be directly added to your emojis for you to able to use it in your chats.

Also, we saw the end of iTunes era, as it will be split into three different apps, including Music, Podcast, and TV.

Let us know your thoughts on WWDC19. What all did you like or didn’t like? Were you expecting something other than everything that was announced?
