Weighing Water
A Poem by Gideon 6ix
Weighing water within the holds of our bodies
Elicits a sensation akin to our follies
We exist, yet we do not know why
Still, we find ways to measure time
An epoch is more than a mark
It finds a way to illuminate the dark
We seek wisdom to fill our minds
Only to see our forms fall from life
An unknown existence belies our own
We squabble over what’s left and can be sold
A grape quivering on a sagging vine
Our nature, we try to disguise
We know no future, present, or past
We only see the moments that last
So little information to form or hide
We gasp, not wanting to cry
Each generation feels this curse
Lonely mortal souls together, on Earth
Raging and loving, hoping to find
What we want to be divine
Hurry then, and find what you seek
Only the strong can carry the weak
Exploring into a singular mind
The carpenter calls for the wine
