The Deconet team was at Starfish Mission presenting on the intersection of financing open source and blockchain.

David kicked it off with a comprehensive overview on how individuals and teams get paid for their open source efforts.

He then dove into a few categories where blockchain is highly relevant, including bounties, getting hired to work on OSS, foundations (token sales), grants, dual licensing, and SaaS / microservices.

To dive in deeper, we suggest reading Nadia’s Roads and Bridges in order to get the full picture of the state of digital infrastructure and also check out our post on the New Deal for Open Source.

Next, Chris dove into a technical walkthrough of the software license and API credit sales. From there, he jumped into how and why we’re leveraging a Token Curated Registry for decentralized and gamified curation.
