Conclusion
My final paper for Intro to Theology

This was the conclusion to my final paper for Intro to Theology. History of religion and theology are my thing, so I cannot tell you how disappointed I was that the class was such an incredible mind-numbing slog. And it was the professor! I’m telling you, the professor makes or breaks your academic experience, and some of them just don’t have the magic.
I didn’t think I’d do well, I thought for sure I’d get a C. I complained to everyone who would listen and more than one person told me, including my therapist, “Cs get degrees!” True. Plus I’m 61 years old, retired after three decades in the software industry, with absolutely no intention of going into ministry. I don’t have to get perfect grades, that’s not what this experience is all about.
I’m in seminary primarily to work through decades of spiritual abuse. It’s slow going, but it’s a steady upward swing. Things are making sense. I like myself more. So, it’s working. Working through your shit is quite rewarding, if you’ve got the stomach for it.
I go to one of the most progressive seminaries in the country, and it’s pretty obvious most of us are undergoing some serious faith deconstruction. Some have deconstructed completely and identify as atheist. All of us are horrified by the current…
