In our regular life, we all are dependent on bureaucracy in somehow or another. But bureaucrats whose work is serving general people, are they do it properly,or are they engaged in their own interests? Today I am going to share such an incident connected to this topic.

A few days ago, through the family talk , I got to know that in our local area there was a job candidate for a post in the Social Service Management. As usual, like other he sit for the written exam. But unfortunately he couldn't manage to get at least 50% marks the exam. He got only15% marks. But the most surprising and I would love to add the most interesting part is that he not only passed in the written exam but also selected for the viva!! This incident made me shocked and confused. I couldn't solve the puzzle of his such elaboration. But later, I got the solving clue of this puzzle. It was nothing but "Bribe" that he used as his extra-ordinary skill to get the job. And surprisingly that "skill" worked for him and he got the chance for viva. Well, how lucky he is! Or, how unlucky we are by getting such a corrupted bureaucracy. What to say? What should we call it? By giving money or something such a candidate who cannot manage at least pass marks in the exam can easily gave a good job. On the other hand, many qualified and deserved candidate can not manage job.

This incident actually reflects the real picture of the bureaucracy of Bangladesh, where the bureaucrats always busy in their own interests. The bureaucratic scenario of Bangladesh clearly shows that the main purpose of bureaucrats is to fulfill their own interests not to serve the people. This is completely an act of corruption. Max Weber had a view about bureaucratic corruption, where Weber shows how corruption start with such a type of domination that form the basis for analysing the relation between rulers and ruled. As Webarian perspective, corruption and it's causes are located in the wider context and personal personal relationship. In this incident we can really see the impact of Webarian thought. Here the exam holders take bribe and give the job to a non-ualified person. They only think about their own interests not people's. Is that person qualified enough for the post? How will be he fulfill his responsibility towards public? These questions didn't haunt the "Bribe" taker.

As my perspective the bureaucrats of Bangladesh misuse their public power for private gain. If this type of corruption continues then the future of Bangladeshi bureaucracy Will be in danger and it will give us nothing but despondency. At the end the question remains - When will they wake up from their grabby mentality? Or, will we have to wait? Wait for how long? Who knows??
