Shamima Begum should be allowed back into the UK so that she, as a British citizen, can be subject to the British justice system.
This isn’t to suggest that her actions and views aren’t abhorrent — because they are — it means that she shouldn’t be subject to those same actions, which she likely would be if she were condemned to remaining in the Middle East. Advocating that she should is hypocritical and regressive.
However, refusing to compare Begum to a fascist, despite her joining an ethnic-supremacist death cult, is also deeply hypocritical. The radical left’s unwavering loyalty to their tribe is foolish, cultish and dangerous. It blinds them to the faults in their ideology. The belief that any established ideology is flawless — radical left postmodernism being a particularly rigid one — is moronic and ignorant, it’s disrespectful to oneself, a most obvious and pathetic bowing down to groupthink.
Political adviser to the leader of the UK Independence Party, Tommy Robinson, is a fascist. He is also the most reviled of enemies of social justice warriors, for which I commend them. He should be the enemy of any morally sound person. Unfortunately, they shoot themselves in the foot when they simultaneously show sympathy and understanding for someone like Shamima Begum. Her age is used as a defence, but I reject this as she is now a 19 year-old woman, and continues to proclaim pride in her choices.
Jihadism is no less as horrendous a doctrine as fascism, and yet the left offer an olive branch to sympathisers. This is because their doctrine — identity politics — takes precedence, and the reason it takes precedence is because they are so privileged as to not need to care about anything outside their own ego. Virtue signalling rules supreme.
Replace Shamima Begum with Tommy Robinson and you have an utterly different news story.
In today’s politically correct jamboree, a demographic with a ‘minority’ or ‘disadvantaged’ status (such as Muslims, who are regrettably all too often conflated with Jihadis), in addition to the viral ignorance plaguing the millennial generation, produces a racist and sexist society. Positive discrimination (or affirmative action) is the beginning of this. This unfolding Begum story is nothing but another case of positive discrimination.
Whilst Shamima Begum shouldn’t be stripped of her British citizenship, she also deserves no solace from the same people who passionately attack those with similarly disgusting views.
Dedicate some independent thinking before picking a side because if you’re not careful, the latter will destroy your ability to accomplish the former.
