Combination Steam Oven: They feature a reservoir which is to be filled with water (which will either need to be plumbed in, or filled manually) which when heated, turns into steam, which cooks your food. Most foods can be cooked in a steam oven although you should bear in mind that while steam ovens are better at retaining flavour and moisture than other types of ovens, they cannot “brown” foods.
3. Combination Oven with Microwave: Essentially, a Combi Microwave enables you to carry out all basic microwave tasks, together with grilling, baking and all other facilities that a regular kitchen oven provides you with.
Unlike a regular microwave, Combi Microwave can brown, crisp, roast and bake, when used on the oven mode. It will also have the added bonus of using less electricity than a regular oven, due to the volume of air being heated being smaller. The combination function of Oven with Microwave gives a full proof cooking results from inside out in 50% cooking time.
Electric Oven Vs Gas Oven
Ovens can be classified on the basis of the Fuel used to power your Oven. The are Electric and Gas options available in the Indian Market. Each one have their Pros & Cons.
Electric Oven
These are by far the most popular ovens. They require a Power Connection before Installation.
Pros: The benefit of cooking with an electric oven, especially one with a fan, is that heat is distributed all around the oven. Electric ovens also tend to stay at a more accurate temperature than gas, and there are plenty of options to choose from.
Cons: They are more expensive to run compared to Gas Ovens
Gas Oven
There are far fewer built-in gas ovens on the market than electric models, but you can still find good ones.
Pros: The interior of a gas oven is often more humid than electric models. This reduces the risk of your food drying out during cooking, and is one reason why bakers often prefer gas ovens. They are also cheaper to run compared to Electric ovens
Cons: Gas built-in ovens aren’t quite as effective as electric ovens at keeping to the set temperature and distributing heat all around the oven. The top of the oven is often noticeably hotter than the bottom. However, a fan can help distribute the heat more evenly. Plus, if you understand your oven, you can take advantage of the differences in temperature, and cook multiple dishes at the same time.
Types of Oven based on its Functions
There are two main categories:
- Fan Oven: This oven has a Integrated Fan that distributes the Heat evenly throughout the oven
2. Different models have different functions so check function capabilities before you buy a Model. Models have 8–12 functions.

Black Glass Finish
Black appliances give off a modern look, but can darken a room, making it seem smaller. This makes them more ideal for large kitchens. On the other hand, black appliances more easily hide smudges and dirt, reducing how often you need to clean them.

White appliances provide a homey feel and are great for people who love to invite friends and family into their kitchen. Not a lot of options are available in white finish.
Black Stainless Steel Finish
Black stainless steel is gaining steam among homeowners recently. The shiny finish hides smudges and fingerprints better than its traditional stainless steel counterpart. The true color of black stainless steel varies from brand to brand, so know that you can’t mix brands and expect a perfect match. Elica calls it Inox Finish.

Height-wise, you’ll find ovens are around 60 cm
Built In Oven Ventilation Requirements
Your standardised oven cabinet should already have accounted for the ventilation need but just to be sure, here are the ventilation requirements for a built in oven.
- You need at least 5mm of space along the sides of the built in oven.
- 35mm of space should be provided at the back of the unit for ventilation
- If the top of the oven is flush with the worktop, this is fine. In other cases, there may be up to 20mm of ventilation space provided at the top, but generally your built in oven is okay to be completely flush at the top.
Oven Installation
Ovens aren’t the easiest appliances to install, so you’ll need help from a qualified electrician.
Most Brands offer an installation service where they deliver your new oven and for a small fee, will also install the Oven for you.
There are a few things you can do before your new oven arrives to help the process run smoothly:
- Double check your measurements to ensure your new oven will fit.
- Check you have a gas or electricity supply near where you want the oven to go.
- Make sure the route to the kitchen is clear and that there is enough room for the installer to work.
- Ensure the area surrounding your new oven is free from flammable items, including wallpaper and wiring.
