Why nobody talks about construction and home improvement industry? This is the most broken industry in history, it’s HUGE and it haven’t been changed for CENTURES (in terms of it’s communication and mechanics, social mechanisms)! And all companies who are in the industry now (like Yelp, Angie’s list, Handy, etc.) they just like Yahoo catalog for webpages (instead of Google). This is so weird…There are a lot of opportunities to change the industry and moreover, most technologies you are talking about in your post can (and should be) applied to construction industry. For instance, AI surface recognition and positioning can be used in creating plastering, wallpapering, flooring robots; clean energy can be used in in-house autonomous energy systems deeply connected with home automation systems and this depends on wiring and other construction-stage jobs; VR and augmented reality can be used in arch design and interior design, like you can put on your VR and build your own interior design for your house and then with on click get an estimate of how much would it cost in terms of labour and materials; drones and flying cars will dramatically lower contruction materials delivery costs and create a whole bunch of new construction entities (small business) where you can be the only employee, you get workforce (plumbers, electricians, contractors, etc.) on-demand, your use drons and self-driving on-demand cars to buy and deliver materials to the construction site, you use customer’s VR home renovation project to control the process, etc…This will lead to dramatically lower prices and open a new era in housing and solve the problem like we have in Silicon Valley with expensive housing forever.

We at Dedal are working on one piece of this vision right now, on on-demand workforce when and where you need it. You may want to check out http://beta.ded.al. And demo here https://www.appdemostore.com/demo?id=5840031352619008
