80th Anniversary of the Prominent Writer

Some philosophers believe that talented people are often simple-minded. I am convinced of the correctness of this statement by the live examples on my acquaintances. The writer Atajan Tagan is one of them. If you think about what heights Atajan Tagan reached in his work, you cannot deny that he has reason to be proud. He could have been proud and arrogant about it. However, such feelings are alien to him. He likes to laugh, understands jokes. He is a member of the International Community of Writing Unions, Honored Worker of Arts of Turkmenistan, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation.

I would like to remind the reader of a few facts from the creative biography of his open, simple-minded companion. In Berlin in 1991, Atajan Tagan, as a recognized master of short stories, held the “Evening of Stories”. His essay diary, entitled “A Book Written in Forty Years,” which is the first voluminous work in the history of Turkmen literature and has been published in periodicals for many years, has become the most widely read, most popular work in our country. His books are sold out in bookstores in no time. His works are screened and staged. The novel “Fortress Serakhs” (“Govshut Khan”), in which the writer describes one of the historical events that took place on the Great Silk Road, is published in different languages with a total circulation of 360,000 copies. His stories and novels are also popular with the reader. The novel “Alien” was published in Russian with a circulation of 295,000 copies. This novel was the first Turkmen literature published by the German publishing house with the trademark “YAM Publishing-ru” in all online bookstores in the world. He also introduced his readers to the novel (in abbreviated form) of the weekly American newspaper World voice (Voice of the world). In five issues of the Jahon adabiýoty magazine, published in Tashkent, the Alien novel was published under the name Begona, and Uzbekiston published it as a separate publication. Izvestia Publishing House released it with 265,000 copies.

On the works of Atajan Tagan, translated into dozens of languages, with a track of 850,000 copies. Over 80 reviews have been written by literary experts from different countries, which I perceive as a high assessment of the development of all Turkmen literature in recent years.
