March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the contributions of women throughout history. Women have played an essential role in shaping the world we live in today, and this month is an opportunity to honor their achievements. However, I have a deep concern about the recent attacks on women and those who menstruate and their right to access abortion pills. It is unacceptable that people are being denied access to safe and legal abortion, including access to medication abortion pills like Mifepristone.

Throughout history, women have made significant contributions to science, politics, art, literature, and many other fields. This month is an opportunity to recognize the ongoing struggle for gender equality and to work towards a future where women have equal opportunities, recognition, and rights to their own bodily autonomy. We should have the right to make our own decisions about our bodies, our health, and our lives, and it is not up to anyone else to make those decisions for us.

Deeds Not Words is a women-led organization with origins in reproductive justice. We strive for helping young changemakers to speak up on these issues, yet, It doesn’t help when the political systems set in place limit young people the opportunity to speak up. We are here to change that.

People should not have to fear for their safety when seeking medical care, and they should not be criminalized for exercising their right to access safe abortions. Solutions are providing comprehensive information about abortion options and ensuring that healthcare providers are trained and equipped to provide safe and effective abortion care. In addition, it is important to address the stigma and misinformation surrounding abortion, which often prevents people from seeking the care they need. We need to create a society that supports people’s right to make their own decisions about their bodies and their health, without fear of judgment or reprisal.

I urge YOU to take action to protect our rights to access abortion services, including access to abortion pills. This is not only a matter of human rights but also a matter of public health and social justice. Let us use this month to honor and fight for those who have made history and to continue the fight for gender equality.
