Cleaning up and Housekeeping of Your Works.
Things you can try to better organize your stories.
Most of you probably already know this, but I was surprised how well it worked. Lists.
I realized that I had over a hundred posts, and as I keep adding fans and followers, many of the newer ones haven’t read my older stories.
Yes, I know the Algorithm will pull some of my stories and add it to readers “For You” queue. But another writer had talked about “Updating your stories, adding graphics, and making minor corrections when you find them” which are all things I agree with and am slowly doing to some of my older works.
But a different writer mentioned “Save and update your Lists.” At first I thought they were talking about adding to and updating your personal reading list. Something I do, when I find new items that I enjoy reading.
But then I realized they were talking about “Creator made Lists”. Lists where you can categorize your stories and make it easier for your followers to find. (And for all of you who are saying “No Duh”, its okay. I’m a little slow at picking up some of these tricks.)
Because I try to write longer story-lines but break them into multiple parts, I realized I could assemble all of those related stories in one list. And put them in the order I recommend for the reader.
The best part, is you can always add, delete, and reorder items from you list as you want, and items can be on more that one list at the same time.
If you don’t know how to do this, go to the “save” button on your story.
then click on it. The default “Reading List” will be marked. But you can un-select it and select the one you want.
and then it is saved to that List.
If you want to create a New List. Click on the “Create New List” and it will open a new window.
You just name it and give it a description. You also have the option to make it a Private channel so others can’t read it.
It is as simple as that. You can go to your stories, and then put them into the categories that better serve both you and your readers. Then go to your Library and you can look at your lists. You can share your lists with your readers too and they can save them.
As I said in the beginning, most of you probably already know this. But my question to you is, Did you learn from trial and error, Did someone teach you, or A little of both?
My mundane profession is that of a trainer, so I am use to sharing what I have learned with others. If this was useful, I am glad. If it was a reminder of something you used to do but got out of the habit, then I am glad I could help. If you felt this was a waste of your time, then please look at my lists, and see if I have some stories that you haven’t read and might enjoy.
Here are the lists I have made so far. I am still adding to them and modifying them.
I hope you are enjoying the holidays, regardless of what you and yours celebrate. Enjoy, Share, and Read.
