Pain and grief are key aspects of life that we cannot run away from even if we wanted to. They are inalterable facts of life: As far as there is life, there will be death. As far as there is joy and happiness, there will also be sadness and sorrow, and so on. Because we experience and express these emotions in different ways, it is not always easy for some people to understand others experiences and expressions. It is all part of what makes each of us unique individuals. No one can control these experiences and expressions in others.

Sorrow, grief, pain, and loss touch us at our core and change us. Oftentimes, we are not aware that we have or are being changed. These powerful emotions can pull at us like strong sea currents or shatter us from within. If care is not taken, they can toss us about or pull us under their powerful grip, taking us mentally, psychologically, and emotionally in directions we never fathomed.
