Deep CV: How do CNNs work?

Computer Vision is the part of AI which deals with teaching our computers how to see. The machines have to try to effectively understand what they are looking at when we feed images or video data to them. We, humans, have eyes to get visual information from our surroundings and as we grow up and learn about the world we can effectively understand what we are seeing. In the end, our eyes are receiving light rays reflected from all the objects in front of us. Our brain receives this “image” of what’s in front of us and is able to make meaningful inferences.
