In these such trying times it’s more imperative than ever to remember the good things in our lives that we inadvertently take for granted. Often these are the small things, daily things, that make the experience of existence and consciousness worth exploring.

Recently, a friend of mine started a year-long hashtag project on gratitude called #bestday2017. One simply appends the hashtag to a post of something good, anything good. For example:

Just brewed some 100% Hawaiian peaberry coffee. ☕️ #bestday2017

or perhaps,

And neither the coffee beans nor the water were poisoned. #bestday2017

Acknowledging gratitude in our lives is an exercise in mindfulness that can help put into context all the horrible things we’re experiencing. Sometimes it seems like the world may be falling apart, but, for many of us, our daily lives are still more or less intact.

At least for today. #bestday2017
