Drone Program To Train The Employees For Safe Flights

The U.S. Department of the Interior announced an addition of 50 Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) fixed wing UAVs. DOI is one of the few agencies that actually run towards fires, floods, volcanoes and earthquakes, and their UAS Program has helped gather essential information and act with greater clarity.

Officials recognized that the potential drones could make the task much easier. “Whenever you’re going to start a new business line, the first thing you have to do is continue to deliver on your core business,” said Mark Bathrick, Director of Aviation Services at the DOI.

“We’re tasked with providing the bureaus with hundreds of aircrafts and training for thousand of employees so they are safe and mission-ready for the annual field and fire season,” added Bathrick.
