Now drones could easily pick up the objects inside narrow ditches. Scientists have created a foldable robotic arm that helps drones in picking up the object.

Better called ‘origami robots,’ the arm is made up of seven plastic actuators that appear like rectangular boxes, connected in a consecutive manner stretching up to 27.5 inches in length. The speciality of such foldable drones is that it can be folded flat. This foldable arm could help grab an object at the bottom of a trench.

“Folding, packaging of everyday things are everywhere, Why not robots?” said Kyu Jin Cho, Director of Soft Robotics Research Centre at Seoul National University.

This robotic arm would be very helpful to scientists and researchers collect samples or inspect chimneys and narrow spaces.
