The anthropology professor travelled to Malawi to help farmers to improve the crop productivity by using UAV’s. Jon Carroll, Oakland University Professor is bringing agriculture drone technology that is widely used in US to Africa.

As a part of the project named- “Precision Agriculture for Smallholder Systems in Africa,” Carroll travelled to Liwonde to help farmers improve their crop production. With the help of UAV’s, multispectral aerial images can be captured, that depicts the health of the crops.

According to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Malawi’s farmers have been suffering from droughts, and the people live below the poverty line with half the children malnourished.
