Recently, a data was published, that the crew discovered an estimated 1.5 million penguins nesting in the area. This data was collected via drone. According to Quartz, this supercolony conveyed that there are more Adelie penguins on the Danger Islands.

Thanks to the UAV’s that are helping to locate the species. “We had massive penguin colonies that had not been known to exist,” said Lynch.

The geographical conditions of this territory is difficult to monitor, even during the threatening seasons, it is very difficult to get a ship through, describes Lynch. The UAV’s helped to know about the area, and what was actually occurring on the Antarctica Peninsula.
