Patch Notes Update — May 25, 2022
Good release day, Kingdom!
But not just any release day, the release day. Today we answer the question that’s been buzzing in our heads for months, a rallying cry for a whole de-generation: WEN PETS? Well the answer to that folks is NOW PETS! This update has it all: new marketplace art, music, big pets, little pets, red pets, blue pets. Pets
Obviously, this is the headliner for the day. Jarek the Hatcher has officially set up shop in the East marketplace and he’s ready to incubate and hatch your blue and grey eggs. Choose your offering carefully because it will determine how long your eggs have to incubate and their rarity chance. Each option costs a different level of JEWEL, Gold, and Tears, in addition to the egg-specific materials.
Here’s a brief breakdown, with additional info at the Hatchery:
- Gaia’s Favor: 168 hours incubation time, 1% shiny chance
- Gaia’s Grace: 24 hours incubation time, 10% shiny chance
- Gaia’s Boon: 20 seconds incubation time, 100% shiny chance
Once your egg hatches, you will finally have that precious pet you’ve been waiting so long to hold. You can check out your whole stable or every pet in the game from the brand new Pet Catalog screen with stunning new UI and functionality. On day one, you’ll be able to sell (privately or publicly) or send your pets anywhere you wish. Further along the timeline, you’ll be able to feed and equip your pet to make use of their mysterious profession, crafting, or combat bonuses, as well as trade in two pets to receive a fresh egg in its stead.
Pet Variety
To fully understand the enormity of this update, you have to understand the sheer volume of pet types. Between blue and grey eggs, there are a total of 273 pet variations spread across 38 pet families, which include rare variants and extremely rare one-off types. A huge shout-out to the art team, the lore team, mechanics team, and all other departments that contributed to this massive content drop.
New Marketplace and Subzones
You may have noticed that the marketplace is now split into several different zones. On top of that, it’s absolutely gorgeous! Spend some time in the East Marketplace, listen to the chill new music from our very own Sam Shandley, and appreciate the lush new backdrop and expressive NPCs. Then head over to the Central Marketplace to see some familiar yet reimagined faces and another stunning backdrop. This update paves the way for similar experiences in other areas of the map, with additional options for exploration, discovery, and content.
Test Pet Distribution
In preparation for pets launch, 12 pets were hatched by various members of the dev team in order to test functionality. These will be transferred to a multisig and distributed to the community through giveaways, raffles, and other means to spread the pet love!
